Feb. 7 (UPI) — SpaceX will launch a new round of Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station into lower Earth orbit on Saturday afternoon after its plans to fly on Friday were scrubbed.
The private space agency did not immediately mention a reason for the postponement but announced a new launch window will open at 1:23 p.m. EST with a second opportunity at 5:08 p.m. Another backup launch time is set for 2:55 p.m. on Sunday.
The flight on the Falcon 9 rocket will launch 21 Starlink satellites into space, 13 with “Direct to Cell” capabilities.
The flight will mark the 17th launch for the first stage booster, which as been involved with 12 other Starlink missions. It has been able to autonomously return to the drone ship A Shortfall of Gravitas set up in the Atlantic Ocean after each trip.
SpaceX, which is founded and owned by Elon Musk, is making plans for its Crew-10 launch along with a private astronaut mission with Axiom Space to the International Space Station.
It also assisted in training a commercial astronaut team that will use SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft that will fly over the poles during a three-day mission.
