Comfort Arthur, assistant director here at A Productions on the multi-award-winning show, JoJo and Gran Gran, shared her industry insights with a group of interns this week.
A Productions was approached by Aniboxx, which recently launched a character animation internship programme, to see if some of our team would give a glimpse of life in the industry.
The animation students were keen to understand what it’s like to work here at A Productions as well as getting more specific insights into the skillset needed to become character designers, background artists and to work as a 2D animator. Head of production Duncan Fraser and assistant director Comfort Arthur chatted to the interns via a virtual meeting.
Comfort Arthur said: “I was delighted to offer some insights into life as an assistant animation director and answer any questions they might have.
“At A Productions, we are always striving to do as much as possible to support a diverse talent pipeline and this includes sharing advice with young people and aspiring animators, as well as school, college and university visits and our own internship programmes of course, among many other initiatives.”
JoJo & Gran Gran is produced for CBeebies by BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions, in association with our team here at A Productions, who produced the animation.
Jide Johnson, animation producer and co founder at Aniboxx, said: “We figured that A Productions would make a great partner for the Aniboxx Access eight-week internship talent to engage with. We’ve always been huge fans of the studio’s work, especially on shows like Sesame Street and Jojo and Gran Gran and the content they create makes people from all backgrounds feel welcome.”
